About Dr. Shenkle
Dr. Linda Shenkle discovered her passion for optometry early in life during a visit to her uncle’s practice, where she performed her first air-puff test and knew she wanted to care for patients. She earned her BS in Chemistry from Grove City College and her Doctor of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, now part of Salus University.
After moving to Western New York in 1989, she began her career at Council Opticians before spending many years at Fichte, Endl & Elmer Eyecare. There, she developed extensive experience managing glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, cataracts, macular degeneration, and chronic dry eye.
Though she has retired twice, her love of patient care brought her back. She joined the Derby office in 2025, where she values the supportive team and the advanced technology that allows many conditions to be evaluated and managed in-office.
Outside of work, Dr. Shenkle enjoys traveling, scuba diving, gardening, and trying new adventures. She lives in North Tonawanda with her cat, Mae, and is the proud mother of two sons working in medicine and medical design.
