About Dr. Archer
Born and raised in Syracuse, New York, Dr. Archer discovered her passion for optometry at an early age. After receiving her first pair of glasses and finally being able to see the board at school, she knew she wanted to help others experience the same life-changing moment.
Dr. Archer earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from SUNY Oswego before continuing her education at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, where she received both her Bachelor of Science in Vision Science and Doctor of Optometry degree. She then completed a Primary Care Residency at The Eye Institute, further developing her expertise in comprehensive eye care.
During optometry school, Dr. Archer completed a clinical rotation in Alaska, giving her the opportunity to experience a unique healthcare environment before returning to New York to build her career.
Today, Dr. Archer lives in Ontario, New York, with her daughter and their cat. Outside the office, she enjoys camping, reading, and continuing her Spanish language studies. She is also proud to support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and volunteers at the organization’s annual walk in Syracuse each October.
What Dr. Archer appreciates most about working at Whelpley & Paul is the people. She values being part of a practice that focuses on patient care rather than sales and enjoys building lasting relationships with the individuals and families she serves.

Favorite Patient Story
“One of the patients who has stayed with me over the years was a child with a very high prescription. He didn’t want to wear his glasses because they were thick, heavy, and drew unwanted attention from his classmates. We fit him with contact lenses, and the change in his confidence was almost immediate. Watching him become more comfortable with himself and more confident in daily life reminded me why I chose this profession.”
